Come and Abide
/Clement Yeung
All who are thirsty,
come to the water,
You who have no food,
come and buy and eat.
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
Why spend money and get what is not bread?
And your labor on what does not satisfy?
All you who are weary and burdened,
come and get away with Me
Walk with Me, work with Me,
learn the refreshing rhythm of grace.
Bend your necks to My yoke,
you will find rest for your souls.
For I am gentle and humble in heart,
I won't lay anything ill-fitting on you.
Come home, O prodigal child.
"I am not worthy," you said.
"I 'll come and do the odd jobs with the other hired hands
and leave when the day is over."
Come home, My child,
Don't just come and work for the day.
This is your home,
come back and stay with Me.
I am the real vine
and you are the branches.
My Father is the gardener,
Who cuts off every barren branch.
No fruit, no more branch.
More fruit, more pruning.
No branch can bear fruit by itself,
it must abide in Me.
You are already clean
because of the word I have spoken to you.
But don't just come for the day,
abide in Me and My word in you.
Then, ask what you will,
and you shall have it.
My joy will be in you
and your joy will be complete.
